Make Things Happen
The 10 MAXIMIZERS Character Competencies are an integral part of the Personal Leadership Excellence™ model. MAXIMIZERS is an acronym for 10 competencies that help individuals build a successful life for themselves, balancing quality human relationships and high-achievement results. The first ‘M’ stands for the 'Make Things Happen' Attitude. Here are a couple of quotes that accentuate the need for people to decide to be proactive if they want to create a better life for themselves and others.
There are people who make things happen, there are people who watch things happen, and there are people who wonder what happened.
You can't just sit there and wait for people to give you that golden dream. You've got to get out there and make it happen for yourself.
To succeed one must take responsibility for one’s own life and be prepared to change if necessary. Cultures everywhere have become nations of victims, blaming anything we can think of for our existing problems.
Dr. Ron Jenson
An accomplished gentleman once told me the story of his career success.
As he was completing his MBA, he approached a large company for which he intended to become Vice-President some day. He researched their performance and learned about their greatest financial challenge. Then he sent them a job application and a proposal indicating that he would solve this matter. He was advised that they did not have any job openings in that area. He responded by sharing his intention to be on their senior management team and proposed that his pay for this starting position would be dependent on his success in addressing their biggest problem. After this man’s incessant persuasion, the company agreed to his proposal. The finances in the troubled division turned around. This individual worked his whole career for that company, serving on the senior management team for several years. He did not take no for an answer and he made things happen!!
Consider the following...
Are you happy with your current life or are you disappointed with your circumstances?
What would you like to be true about your life that isn’t true today?
Do you make things happen, or do you 'let life' happen?
Why not decide what success means to you and do what is necessary to make it happen?
